Abstract
This explores the drivers of customer continuance intention in using the Pay Later application, focusing on confirmation, satisfaction, attitude towards debt, and payment habits. Using an exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation modelling, 222 participants were sampled, and it was reflected that confirmation is a significant determinant of satisfaction, clarity about the use of Pay Later increases the level of its users’ satisfaction. It was also revealed that satisfaction had a significant impact on the customers’ attitudes towards debt, continuance intention, and payment habits, among others. This means that the higher the satisfaction, the positive the perceptions about incurring debt are; continuance intention to use Pay Later is strong; and the more consistent the payment behaviours will be. Attitudes toward debt and payment habit were both confirmed as strong antecedents of continuance intention, indicating that these factors facilitate the continuance of using the Pay Later application. This gives further support to the creation of effective marketing strategies complemented by effective application management. It also aligns with the UN SDGs, notably Goal 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth and Goal 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, in pointing out that innovative digital payment solution are pivotal for ensuring financial inclusivity and attaining a responsible consumption pattern.
