Abstract
Financial education is needed if you want to keep a stable and secure home - especially if you’re a working woman. More often than not, working women make significant contributions to their family’s financial decision-making and sometimes creating revenue. This study explored the relationship between the financial literacy of working women and the financial stability of their households. This study also highlighted the importance of being financially literate on such areas as retirement planning; managing credit and debt (e.g., credit cards); budgeting; saving and investing; and understanding how to use different types of insurance. In addition, the research also examined the role of these skill sets in helping families achieve long-term financial stability. Data for this study was collected from 280 respondents, which consisted of primary data. As this research relies on information collected by the participants, inaccurate or wrong information may lead to an erroneous result. Based on the results of the analysis, working women who have been exposed to financial literacy training improve their ability to budget their household finances, save more, invest more, and provide for their family in a more financially stable manner. Additionally, the study stresses the need for training programs, supporting policies on finance and specific, targeted financial education programs to help working women achieve financial literacy and to increase their family’s financial stability. In summary, improving the financial literacy of working women will not only contribute to a long-term stable household, but also empower working women financially and contribute to the greater economy as a whole.
