Abstract
This study examines how emotional intelligence and resilience influence leadership effectiveness. A conceptual framework was developed to explore the impact of different dimensions of emotional intelligence on leadership, while also considering resilience as a predictive factor that enhances leadership competence. The proposed hypotheses were tested in the context of the developing port region of Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Data were collected from 110 middle-level managers of logistics sector working in this district. Hierarchical regression analysis was employed to test the proposed relationships to ensure methodological rigor and reliability. The results indicate that EI skills, particularly social awareness and relationship management, play a significant role. Relationship management emerged as the most significant predictor, whereas other dimensions did not show unique effects in the logistics sector. Emotionally intelligent and resilient managers demonstrated higher leadership effectiveness in the shipping and logistics sector.
