Abstract
This study explores the transformative potential of academic libraries as adaptive civic infrastructures through spatial reconfiguration, participatory design, and Smart Libraries 5.0 integration. Drawing on comparative case studies and spatial analysis, the research examines how digital equity, universal design principles, and policy frameworks such as NEP 2020 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be operationalised within library environments. The conceptual model developed herein synthesises architectural zoning, IoT–AI–Edge computing, and inclusive planning to propose a scalable framework for future-ready library systems. Findings highlight the critical role of librarians as civic agents and underscore the need for policy-aligned innovation to foster equitable access, community engagement, and resilient knowledge ecosystems.
