Abstract
This research rigorously analyses the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative instituted by the government of India as a strategic policy aimed at democratising access to academic knowledge via a cohesive national subscription framework. Utilising quantitative survey data derived from 97 participants affiliated with the University of Allahabad the study investigates levels of awareness, information sources, perceived advantages, and implementation obstacles concerning ONOS. The results indicate that 85.6% of participants were cognizant of the initiative, and 91.8% had undergone institutional training or orientation pertinent to it. A substantial majority reported that ONOS effectively expands disciplinary coverage, enhances cost-effectiveness, and facilitates equitable access to scholarly resources, particularly for under-resourced universities. Nevertheless, challenges related to digital infrastructure, inadequate training, and the limited inclusion of private universities continue to hinder universal accessibility. This research emphasises the transformative potential of ONOS in enhancing research visibility, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and promoting inclusivity within India’s academic landscape, while advocating for ongoing policy refinement to ensure long-term sustainability.
