Abstract
This study explored the relationship
of personal and organizational
values with organizational
commitment. 220 participants
from a large public sector organization
were asked to rate on a
7 point scale the 24 items value
taxonomy as to how important
these are to them as a guiding
principle in their lives and then
as to how much they perceive
their organizations to promote
these values. Results reveal that
persons who attached more importance
to the values of openness,
fairness, logic and moral
integrity are affectively committed
and those who perceive their
organizations to promote the values
of openness, fairness, logic
and moral integrity are committed
normatively.
