The recent labor reforms in India have generated the hope that it will empower its workers. This article examines the possible implications of the new labor legislation on supposedly protected workers in organized manufacturing. The market-driven labor reforms remain a mirage for the workers in organized manufacturing, suggesting India has a long
way to go to protect its vulnerable workers.
