Abstract
In the present macroeconomic
context when the national unemployment
rate touches a four-decade
high figure marketing and
sales area emerges as one of the
fields, open for employment to
active job seekers. This article
delves into the key employment
terms of sales representatives in
the pharmaceuticals sector: the
challenges faced by the specific
craft union and its responses and
strategic choices. The qualitative
study is based on the findings
from semi-structured interviews
and also analysis of several secondary
sources of data viz. court
judgements, union bulletins and
media reports. The findings show
that the employment terms related
to the specific sector are arbitrarily
drafted; which often undermines
the principles of natural
justice and even constitutional
rights.
