Abstract
Rising prices in fossil fuels petrol, diesel, etc., are contributing to the interest in the Indian consumer for electric vehicles, in the form of stock-built electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles or aftermarket retrofitted electric vehicles. These innovations are in the early maturity phase in India, as interest in this is on the rise. The purpose of this paper is to gauge the level of the state of readiness, among the general vehicle users and owners in India, for retrofitting their conventionally fueled vehicles into electrically powered vehicles. The findings reveal that the consensus level is rather positive, but further decisions in this area by the policy makers may need the navigation of a few challenges whose objective solution can enable the creation of a cleaner tomorrow.
