Abstract

This study explores the perceptions of employees in the Regional and Semi-Urban areas of West Bengal regarding the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Human Resource Management (HRM). As AI technology rapidly transforms various industries, it has the ability to greatly enhance HR processes, such as hiring, involvement of employees, and performance evaluation. However, the implementation of AI in HRM is still in its early stages, especially in Paschim Midnapore, West Bengal, where traditional HR practices are more common. The research aims to understand employees’ awareness of AI, their familiarity with its benefits, and their impact on traditional HR roles. Exploratory research using primary and secondary collection methods. The non-probabilistic convenience sample technique with the application of the Likert Scaling technique. The study found that while many employees know AI’s potential benefits, most have limited exposure to its practical applications in HR processes. Key HR functions such as training, hiring, and performance evaluation are likely to benefit from AI integration. However, challenges such as a lack of training and concerns over losing the human touch in sensitive HR matters remain significant barriers. Overall, the study highlights the need for increased learning and development on AI in HRM to help reduce the disparity between technology and traditional HR practices, ensuring that organisations are better prepared for the future.
