            Abstract
The power required to transport a material on a belt conveyor is absorbed in overcoming frictional effects and if upward movement is involve, then in increasing the potential energy of the material. Accelerating the material fed on the belt may also account for some of the power requirements. Main and secondary resistances occur on all belt conveyors, while special resistances are only present in certain types of installations. Slope resistances are dependent on the inclination or declination of the conveyor and occur either continuously along the entire length of the conveyor or arise in specific areas. The analysis of total resistance over the complete path of belt conveyor ensuring a stable conveying operation.
