Abstract

Commercial banks in India cater to the banking needs of the people living in both urban and rural areas. They can deliver quality financial services to their customers only through quality human resources. Hence, they should strive to achieve consistency in the quality of HRD climate in different units, which strongly reinforces the performance and productivity of their employees. This study attempts to examine HRD climate variations between urban and rural branches/offices of selected banks. Survey results indicate non-existence of overall HRD climate differences. However, the study uncovers certain individual HRD issues in the two categories of banks.
