Abstract

Optimal transformer design becomes an important feature to achieve lower cost, lower weight, reduced size and better operating performance. In this paper an attempt has been done for optimum design of power transformer. Genetic algorithm has been used as an optimization technique along with artificial neural network to select the different design variables in transformer design. Simulated results are compared with the conventional design method. It has been found that the optimization of design for a transformer becomes very simple with the application of artificial intelligent techniques. MATLAB is used for simulation purpose.
