Abstract
The hospitality industry in India is increasingly adopting sustainable practices to align with global eco-tourism trends, driven by rising guest demand for environmentally responsible experiences. This study explores how sustainable practices, such as energy-efficient systems, waste management, and local sourcing, enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty in Indian hotels. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research combines a survey of 300 hotel guests across five eco-certified hotels in India with in-depth interviews of hotel managers. Findings indicate that sustainable practices significantly improve guest perceptions of value and experience, with 78% of respondents prioritizing eco-friendly amenities in their accommodation choices. However, challenges such as high implementation costs and lack of awareness persist. The study proposes a framework for integrating sustainable practices into hotel operations to enhance guest experiences while addressing operational challenges. This research contributes to the literature on eco-tourism and provides practical recommendations for hoteliers in India to balance sustainability and profitability.
