Abstract

Automation of examination management is an NP hard problem that has drawn the attention of many researchers. Even in recent days many of the exams are still conducted the traditional way on paper. Most of the tasks involved in managing the exams are also carried out manually the traditional way. Therefore, they are prone to errors and is time consuming. Various authors have proposed techniques for room allotment, time table generation, secured score maintenance and automated question paper setting. One of the rigorous tasks that have not received much attention is allocation of invigilators to rooms. We propose a system that integrates time table generation, room allocation for students and room allocation for the invigilators in an efficient way. The two important resources to be allocated in the proposed system are the rooms and the invigilators.

Keywords: Application of genetic algorithm, Exam management, Invigilator allocation, Room allocation.
